On April 27, 2023, teens launch Africa, partnered with Emerging Communities Africa and KidsnTeens NGO to host an immersive workshop at Akure Tech Hub in honor of International ICT Day, themed “Digital Skills for Life.” This full-day event convened youth participants to develop essential digital skills and knowledge to succeed in the 21st century.
Key Highlights
- Diverse Participation — This diversity enabled peer learning. The workshop saw participation from Over 50 students from 10 secondary schools across the state attended, alongside engaged parents. The schools varied from large urban public schools to smaller rural schools, truly reflecting the socioeconomic and geographic diversity of the student population.
- Engaging Workshops — Interactive sessions allowed hands-on exploration of graphic design, Microsoft Office, web development, robotics and more. This skills were specifically tailored to help introduce this ladies to digital skills relevant for today world and help them equal their peers globally.
- Experienced Volunteers — Industry experts provided step-by-step guidance to help learners master technical skills. Their experience brought concepts to life and made thing more relatable to beneficiaries.
- Collaborative Activities — From design challenges to hackathons, activities emphasized teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Certification — Participants received certificates validating their new digital literacy, a milestone toward future opportunities.
